E911 Notice and Limitations
Last updated July 28, 2026.
VoIP 911 service works differently than traditional landline 911. Please read this notice and share it with everyone at your organization who may use the service.
Registered location
911 calls are routed based on the registered service address associated with each phone or user. If a phone is moved to a different building, floor or suite, the registered address must be updated or emergency responders may be dispatched to the wrong location. Contact us to update registered addresses.
Service outages
911 calling will not function during a power outage, internet outage, network failure or service suspension. We recommend keeping an alternative means of calling 911, such as a mobile phone, available at each location.
Mobile and softphone use
Calls placed through the ConnectUC app from a location other than the registered address may not deliver accurate location information. When possible, use a mobile carrier's native dialer for emergency calls from outside your office.
Notification to users
Customers are responsible for notifying employees, contractors and visitors of these limitations and for posting warning labels near equipment where appropriate.
Kari's Law and RAY BAUM'S Act
Our systems are configured to allow direct 911 dialing without a prefix and to provide dispatchable location information where supported. Notification of 911 calls can be sent to a designated internal contact on request.
